NaNo 2019 Day 10 — ICYMI

What’s with the image of a flaming apple? It could be a metaphor for a wild ride, or a difficult journey. Or maybe it’s just a cool photo and I haven’t got a great idea for what I want to talk about today.

When sitcom writers didn’t have a great idea for a show (or maybe due to budgetary constraints; what do I know?) what did they do? A highlights episode, of course!

Short on ideas today and with as small a budget as you can imagine, here’s my “1/3 of the  way through November” highlights episode:

As you may have noticed, I’ve set myself the goal of posting every morning in November with a wrapup of my prior day of NaNo 2019. For my day 10 wrapup, I’m doing a check in of all the posts I’ve written for NaNo 2019 so far:

Day 1: The messy beauty that is NaNoWriMo found it’s  way into my life for another November. I took a look at the plan vs. the reality, and prepped myself for the road ahead.

Day 2: Already a bit behind, even on day 2, I reflected on what that means to me, and suggested I might start gamifying early.

Day 3: I revealed that my not-so-secret wordcount-building weapon is the crawl, explained what that is, and linked a few to help others find them.

Day 4: How did my Egyptian Tomb Crawl go? Results are posted here.

Day 5: I reflected on the beauty of creating something, no matter whether you have a deadline, or anyone else to read it, just for the sake of being creative.

Day 6: My most-read NaNo 2019 post so far, where I had a lot of fun writing a song parody that I called The Sounds of NaNo.

Day 7: I reflected on the ways NaNo, and life, can throw you off course, and how I deal with that.

Day 8: With a few bugs being worked out on the NaNo site, I came up with other ways (other than official wordcount) to get my external validation.

Day 9: I reflected on why I need to stop chasing other people’s wordcounts and keep my eyes on my own paper.

Day 10: That’s this post. My current status, a third of the way in to the month, is that I’m still just a tiny bit behind on wordcount. I’m taking a lot more time writing other things this month (see: this blog) but I think that’s keeping my creative juices flowing. And I’m going to do my best to catch up today, as I do every day.  And I might not make it. And that’s okay.

Happy NaNo-ing!

I’ll be blogging my NaNo 2019 journey right here, so feel free to follow along. And feel free to share your highlights in the comments!
